How do I defrost my prawns?
The best and easiest way to defrost your prawns, is to get a bucket of “clean” seawater and chuck your desired portion in. Check after 10 minutes, do not leave out to soak for long periods of time.
If seawater is not available or is inconvenient, moving your prawns from the freezer to the fridge 12-24 hours prior to use will suffice.
Pro tip: NEVER defrost or rinse prawns in fresh water! This is a great way to ruin the flavour and texture.

Are you sustainable?
Yes! Our fishing is highly regulated by the Spencer Gulf and West Coast Prawn Association, who are renowned for their strong focus on sustainability. Our young prawn stocks are fiercely protected, and catch-rates closely monitored as to keep our grounds healthy for future generations. We are also proud to use plastic-free, compostable pallet wrap and recyclable packaging, and have been active in environmental/sustainable community groups such as the “Fight for the Bight” movement. We pride ourselves on moving with purpose in the direction of sustainability, and ultimately aim for carbon-neutrality.
If you would like to discuss our current and future plans, please do not hesitate to contact us.

What is the best way to eat prawns?
There are hundreds, if not thousands, of ways to eat prawns. Crumbed and deep fried, bathed in garlic sauce on a bed of rice, paired with mango and avocado in a fresh salad, or as a perfect protein hit in any curry.
Maybe we are biased due to nostalgia, but our favourite way to enjoy our prawns is fresh, with lemon, thousand island sauce and hot chips from the local shop.
-
What size should I get?
Of course size is largely down to personal preference, however our most popular sizes that we sell to the public are the Large/Medium (10/15) and Large (U10) in the 3kg boxes.
These sizes are perfect in meals, as well as simply peeling and eating.

When are the prawns available?
The prawns are fished seasonally, being left to spawn through the summer months, and through their growth season of May. This means our prawns are available to the public year-round, depending on catch rates.
